Three km (2 mi) from central Playa del Carmen, Viva Wyndham Azteca is situated on a white-sand beach within the exclusive Playacar complex. Guests have full privileges at a companion resort, Viva Wyndham Maya, which is one hotel away (approximately 500 meters).

Among the numerous activities are group windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, and tennis lessons. The outdoor pool and spa tub offer handy snack and bar service. Renova Spa, at the Viva Wyndham Maya, offers moonlight beach massages and other services (surcharges).

In addition to buffet dining, the resort offers Asian, Mayan, and Italian dinner restaurants. Nightly entertainment is presented in the 350-seat theater, including cabaret acts or other productions.

Two kids clubs serve ages 4–12, and children also have access to their own pool, playground, and clubhouse.

Private balconies or patios overlook lush tropical gardens. Rooms at Viva Wyndham Azteca have minibars that are replenished daily with complimentary bottled water, soft drinks, and beer. TVs come with music stations and satellite channels, including U.S. channels. Direct-dial telephones with voice mail are also provided, as are in-room safes.
